Meet Mr. Hmong Contestant : Danny Yang

Name:  Danny Yang

HomeTown: Fresno

Age: 23

My ideal woman is… a person like my mom. Someone who is ambitious, passionate, confident, sympathetic and never ever gives up on anyone even when life puts her down.  A person who can love and trust me for who I am as an imperfect person and not for what I have now or have done in the past.

The 3 most important things in my life at the moment are… my family, friends, and my business, Pho King #1.

If I can dedicate a song to a woman I care about it’ll be… “All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo because

“All My Life

I’ve prayed for someone like you

And I thank God that I, that I finally found you

All my life ”

If I had 1 hour and only $20 to impress a girl I would… go buy a kite, a loaf of bread, and take her to go feed the ducks and kite flying.  Mainly, with 1 hour, I just want to get to know her first and enjoy just being around her.
The best piece of advice anyone has ever given me was…  MAKE IT HAPPEN because people can talk all they want, but if you want changes in your life, you have to “JUST DO IT.”

Meet Mr. Hmong Contestant : Travis Vang

Name:  Travis Vang

HomeTown: Fresno

Age: 21

A boy becomes a man when…he truly understands himself and what his priorities are. There are many things that distinguish a boy between a man such as their maturity levels. I believe that a man is someone who takes life seriously and is aware of the consequences of his actions and what damages they will do his reputation, where as a boy will do what ever that is on his mind. Boys are less aware of their surroundings and live life carelessly.

The thing I am most afraid of is… losing my parents. I would rather die for them. Without them I would whole-heartedly miss them. It’s a phase that everyone will have to go through but the thought of it is still hard. Although it’ll come one way or another just the thought of it scares me. Losing my love ones will affect me, but also encourages me to be a better person for them as well as to be the person they want me to be.

It’s great to be s Hmong man because…we are different and have the ability make other people curious about what’s behind our religion, culture, and history. It still amazes me when people ask me, “Hey what is Hmong”? Now, I simply reply to them, it’s what make me who I am today- which is someone who is willing to grow wiser to better and make known to the world the word “HMONG”!

My favorite movie would be… “Pearl Harbor” because it describes the hardships that our nation goes through during a time of war and the unity it takes to combine and makes us stronger. I have to say that this movie made me feel as if I was really in it myself. If you haven’t seen it, then you should!

The most significant accomplishment in my life thus far would be… being able to stay true to myself. Because when you are really yourself, you can express who you are and accomplish more goals without having to worry about who will criticizes you. To be honest, no matter how perfect you wish to be, you just can’t always be perfect. With that being said, I believe that accomplishing the simplest goals helps you accomplish the greatest goals

Name:  Phong Vang

HomeTown: Fresno

Age: 20

It’s great to be a Hmong man because… I like the way of my Hmong traditional religion and culture goes. Most special thing of being a Hmong man is to be a good leader for the entire relatives.

The 3 most important things… in my life are my parents, education, and Hmong culture because those 3 things tell me that I am a Hmong man. Haha.

I am known for… “Nuj Sis Loob” because I like to learn Hmong culture. Most important of Hmong culture that I have learned is Qeej. I am willing to learn more about Hmong culture because a culture can only tells yourself that you are a Hmong or who you are to other people.

If I only had $20 and 1 hour to impress a girl I would… buy her a toy ring, a dozen roses, and Hmong food. Those 3 things I give to her will tell her how much I love her and care about her within 1 hour to spend with her.

My favorite song is… Just for Love by Destiny because it expresses how important love is. If there is love or desire, you can do anything. The reason is that everybody does need someone to provide comfort and love. That is why this song is so important to me. Haha.

Meet Mr. Hmong Contestant : Joing Thao

Name:  Joing Thao

HomeTown: Clovis

Age: 19

It’s great to be a Hmong man because… being Hmong is unique. I am honored to be Hmong and to be what I am today. Our Hmong ancestors are the one who made it possible, and they are the one who fought alongside the Americans in the Vietnam War to fight for our freedom.

One of my goals… is to do the best I can. To say that I am going to help the Hmong community is only saying that perhaps I will and that I don’t like to give people false hope. When time comes, I would also like to help out in the Hmong and American community as much as possible.

3 words that would best describe me are… nice, imperfect, and unique-one of a kind.

The 3 most important things in my life at the moment are… my family; whatever I do they are there to help and guide me. My friends; I see the world as a positive light where everyone around me is a friend. I believe even if there are many who have a cold heart, it is still possible to love them. If you are only willing to put forth friendship it can be establish anywhere. Lastly myself.

5.)    Others like me because… I am who I am. And as a friend I am honest, I speak what is needed to said and nothing more. Life is about making mistakes, then fixing and making yourself better. I believe that no one in the world is perfect but to obtain what you are looking for, you must take that first step. Be yourself and you will always succeed.
